Shawdesh Desk:
A zebra has given birth to a baby at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
The newly-born baby is a male zebra. With this the number of zebras at the park has stood at 31 and this is the eighth zebra cub born at the park this year.
Officer-in-charge of the safari park and assistant forest conservator Tabibur Rahman confirmed the matter to media.
The park authorities said both the mother and the baby zebras are in good condition.
In 2017, five male and six female zebras were brought to the safari park from South Africa.
Wildlife inspector Sarwar Hossain at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park said some zebras were brought from abroad for the entertainment of visitors at the beginning of setting up the park. As the animals have adapted themselves to the local environment easily, the zebras have been giving birth to babies over the last five years regularly. Apart from grass, the mother is being fed gram, carrot and husk.
